Amur Maackia
treePrice: 30.95
The Amur Maackia, 'Maackia amurensis, is a small, deciduous tree with a broad, rounded habit. It typically grows at a slow-to-moderate rate to a height of 20-30'. Amur Maackia features erect, narrow, spike-like clusters of fragrant, dull white, pea-like flowers which appear in late spring. Flowers are followed by flat seed pods (2-3" long).
The multi-divided leaflets are grey/green when young but mature to dark green, and often drop in fall without significantly changing color. Best grown in average, medium moisture, well-drained soil in full sun to part shade, but prefers full sun.
It can adapt to a wide range of soil conditions. Use as a small shade tree or as a street tree where the peeling, orange/brown, shiny bark is especially noticeable.
